The Warhawk women's golf team claimed the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title for the eighth consecutive season Sunday. UW-Whitewater shot a 958, tied for the seventh-best 54-hole score in program history, in the three day tournament held at Reedsburg Country Club.
On a windy day on the links, UWW shot a 333 to seal the title by nine strokes. Four Warhawks finished among the top ten to lead the way.
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) bolstered the Warhawks Sunday with a phenomenal third round. Lux was even through the front nine and shot a 77 for the second straight day. She jumped three spots to finish as the individual runner-up. Her total of 236 is tied for the eighth-best 54-hole score in program history.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) finished three-strokes back from Lux to secure a tie for third with a 54-hole total of 239.
Ellie Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) ended with a 242 to tie for fifth and
Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) came in with a 244 to tie for ninth.
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) rounded out the Warhawks' scoring five with a 254 to finish tied for 26th.
Jessica Velent (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) led the UWW golfers competing as individuals at the tournament. She tied for 17th with a 250.
Emily Akers (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) carded a 252 followed by
Kellie Shanahan's (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) 254, a 260 from
Norah Berken (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna),
Megan Honn's (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) total of 261, a 279 from
Breezy Roman (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) and
Natalie Kammer's (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) 286.
For the tournament, UW-Whitewater was the best on par 4s with an average of 4.55 strokes and on par 5s with a 5.43 stroke average. The Warhawks tallied the most birdies with 16 over the course of the 54-hole championship. Myers shared tournament-high honors with five birdies over three days.
With the title, UW-Whitewater earns an automatic bid to compete in the NCAA Division III Championship to be held May 13-16, 2025 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
Senior
Ellie Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) was named the Judy Kruckman Scholar Athlete of the Year at the championship. A release regarding this honor will be published Monday.
UW-Stout finished second behind the individual champion Julia Imai. UW-La Crosse finished third followed in order by UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Eau Claire, UW-River Falls and UW-Stevens Point.

The UW-Whitewater women's golf team improved its lead to eight strokes after two rounds of competition at the 2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships presented by Culver's. The Warhawks have won seven consecutive league titles. The 2024 championship is held at the Reedsburg Country Club with the winner earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship in Houston, Texas in May.
UWW shaved five strokes off the team's round one score for a 310 on Saturday. The Warhawks' boast a 36-hole total of 625.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) jumped five spots on the individual leaderboard to pace the Warhawks' second round Saturday. Myers shaved eight strokes off of her round one card, shooting even in round two bolstered by a -2 on the back nine. Her 72 is a career-best and ties for the third-best ever recorded by a Warhawk golfer. She is currently second on the individual leaderboard, four strokes back from the lead.
Ellie Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) moved up one spot to third with a 78 Saturday.
Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) is currently tied for fifth after carding an 83.

After two rounds of competition, UW-Whitewater leads the tournament in birdies (12) and pars (97). Johnson has been the best golfer on par 5s at the championship averaging 4.88 strokes after 36 holes.
The Warhawks are also represented by a number of individual golfers at the championship.

Ellie Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) was one of three Warhawks to tally a 38 (+2) on the front nine in round one. Carding a 77 for the day, Johnson holds fourth individually.
Haley Myers' (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) 80 was bolstered by a 38 on the front. She is tied for seventh on the leaderboard.
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) registered the best score on a hole for the Warhawks Friday. Her eagle on hole five (par four) was one of just four eagles recorded in the first round. She came in to the clubhouse tied for 12th with an 82.
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) rounded out UW-Whitewater's fivesome with an 86.

A total of 75 golfers are competing at this year's WIAC Championship. The 54-hole tournament will continue Saturday before a winner is crowned Sunday.
