Four members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's golf team were selected to All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams while
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) was tabbed the league's Newcomer of the Year. First Team honorees include Ellie Johnson and
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) while
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) and
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) were Second Team selections.
UW-Whitewater has had the WIAC Newcomer of the Year two consecutive seasons with Lux in 2021-22 and Reiser this season. Reiser tied for 15th at the WIAC Championship this season.
Sinak, now a four-time All-WIAC selection, was the runner-up at the 2022 WIAC Championship in the fall. A three-time First Team honoree (2019-20, Player of the Year; 2021, 2022-23), Sinak tied the program record for 18-hole score with a 71 at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic. She carded a 72 twice this season including on the second day of the conference championship.
Johnson finished sixth in the league championship in the fall. She tied the program record for 18-hole score with a 71 on two occasions this season including once at the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic and most recently in a tournament hosted by St. Olaf and Carleton at the end of April.
Lux earned Second Team recognition for the second consecutive season. She tied for seventh at the WIAC Championships. Her season best 18-hole score came in the first tournament of the season, a 75 on the second day of the Battle on the Border hosted by Carthage in the fall.
Sheppard, a First Team selection last season, is now a two-time all-league honoree. She finished 14th at the conference championships and holds a season best 18-hole mark of 73 set on the second day of the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic.
The Warhawks won the WIAC title for the sixth consecutive season in the fall to claim the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Championships. UWW will compete in NCAA action Tuesday-Friday at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The championships will feature both team and individual competition with the field cut to the top 15 teams and six additional individuals for the final day.
