Janesville, Wis. - The UW-Whitewater women's golf program hosted its annual spring invite at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville Friday-Saturday. The storms rolled in Friday evening halting first round action. With cold, windy and very wet conditions Saturday, the teams returned Saturday to finish their first round while the second round was canceled. 

The Warhawks had two squads competing in the invite with the top combination registering a 331 for eighth. UWW's second group carded a 340 for 13th. 

UW-Whitewater's 'A' squad was led by Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) with an 80 to finish among the top 20. Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) (81), Delainey Halverson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) (85), Jessica Velent (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) (85) and Emily Akers (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) (90) rounded out the group. 

The Warhawks' second fivesome was led by an 80 from Kellie Shanahan (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein). Natalie Kammer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) (85), Breezy Roman (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) (86), Megan Honn (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) (89) and Elizabeth Vanderhei (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) (93) capped the group. 

Alexa Reed (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) also represented UW-Whitewater as an individual. Reed carded an 83. 

Friday Recap
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team opened their Spring Invite on Friday afternoon. The teams got through about half of the first round before play was suspended due to the weather. 

The Warhawks will finish the 18 from round one tomorrow, April 18th, beginning at 10 am. 

The current standings have the UW-Whitewater "B" Team in 5th place with 152 strokes and the UW-Whitewater "A" Team in 7th place with 159.
