Three University of Wisconsin-Whitewater tennis players have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove),
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) and
Kasey Schlicht (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) represent UW-Whitewater on the men's and women's All-District teams and are automatically added to the Academic All-America ballot.
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve, who has participated in at least 50-percent of the team's competitions, with at least a 3.50 grade point average. Nominees must have completed a full calendar year at the current institution and must be of at least sophomore status academically and athletically.
Now a two-time Academic All-District honoree, Lindwall, a double major in biology and chemistry with a minor in general business, holds a 4.0 grade point average. On the court, Lindwall hit the 100 win milestone this season. He boasted identical records of 20-8 in both singles and doubles action. A five-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honoree, Lindwall helped the Warhawks to the program's second consecutive NJAC title, third straight NJAC West Division title and UWW's 14th NCAA appearance in the last 16 seasons. In the classroom, Lindwall received the American Chemical Society Outstanding Student Award in analytical chemistry in 2022 and 2023. The recipient of numerous scholarships, Lindwall has been recognized on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll three seasons, is a three-time ITA Scholar Athlete and has been on the Dean's List each semester. He was the recipient of the Ganser Undergraduate Research Grant in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and presented his work at the UW system symposium. Lindwall was named a Chancellor's Scholar Athlete earlier this week. Additionally, he is a nationally registered and Wisconsin-licensed emergency medical technician.
Day boasts a 4.0 grade point average in integrated business and science with a minor in information technology. Competing primarily at No. 2 doubles this season, Day is 21-8 with a 5-2 record in singles action. She has accumulated over 85 combined singles and doubles wins in her career. Academically, she was named the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete in the fall. Day is a multi-honoree as an ITA Scholar Athlete and member on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll. Recently named a UW-Whitewater Chancellor's Scholar Athlete, Day has received the UWW Academic Achievement Award and has been on Dean's List each semester. She is one of the team's community service leaders as a SAAC member and was also involved in the campus' nursing home visitation program. Day also helped students in the tutorial center by hosting supplemental instruction sessions. She has recently accepted a position on the commercial and employee benefits team for Kunkel and Associates, a brokerage and insurance firm in Dubuque. Athletically, Day is a two-time WIAC doubles champion hoisting the title in 2022 with
Gianna Nikoleit (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) and in 2019 with Olivia Kraft, both in the No. 3 flight.
Schlicht, a marketing major with professional selling emphasis, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.96. Schlicht has posted a singles mark of 15-9 and doubles record of 19-6 this season. Already hired to work at RR Donnelly, a fortune 500 company, Schlicht is a multi-honoree as an ITA Scholar Athlete and member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll with recognition on the Dean's List each semester. Recently named a Chancellor's Scholar Athlete, Schlicht received the Academic Achievement Award, is a member of SAAC, has received MU Kappa Tau marketing honors and is a member of Pi Sigma Epsilon, professionals marketing and sales business fraternity, as well as a member of Delight ministries. Athletically, Schlicht won the No. 2 doubles title in 2022 with teammate
Kellie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) and was the WIAC runner-up at No. 1 singles as a freshman in 2020 earning Newcomer of the Year honors. She represented UWW on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team in 2022. Schlicht was named the team's Marty Van Steenderen Sportswoman of the Year in 2023.
Both Day and Schlicht helped UWW to four WIAC Championships and four consecutive NCAA appearances. The Warhawks won the program's 16th straight conference title and made the team's 15th consecutive appearance in NCAA action this spring.
