The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team completed its regular season with a 4-3 win over 30th-ranked Kalamazoo. The Warhawks, ranked 35th in the most recent ITA poll, clinched the match that came down to the final singles match.

The Warhawks were able to grab an early point with the doubles matches, taking two out of the three flights. Julius Jonsson (Kungsbacka, Sweden/Aranäsgymnasiet) and Keith Moeller (Dallas, Tex./DKM-I University Prep) took the third flight with a 6-1 victory. Gavin Kelleher (Brooklyn, Minn./Champlin Park) & Charles Morgan (Naperville, Ill./Central) were able to clinch the point at the second flight with a 6-2 win.

In the singles matches, Seth Smigel (Tiffin, Iowa/Clear Creek Amana) picked up the first match, winning the 6th flight in just 60 minutes. Smigel only dropped two games in the straight set, 6-2, 6-0 victory. 

Theo Billson (Lindfield, England/BHASVIC) grabbed the next point for the Warhawks, winning a three-set match 7-5, 2-6, 6-0. Billson's match put the Warhawks just a flight away from victory. But the Hornets grabbed the three other flights to tie up the match at 3-3. 

Gavin Kelleher (Brooklyn, Minn./Champlin Park) was able to grab the match point at No. 4 singles to win the match for the Warhawks. Kelleher won in straight sets, with a close 7-5, 6-4 victory.

The Warhawks will face The College of New Jersey in the WIAC Championship at the Whitewater Tennis Courts on Saturday, May 2nd.
