Muir Earns Second Team Academic All-America® from CoSIDA

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball senior Westin Muir (Highlands Ranch, Colo./St. Charles North (Ill.)) has been named to the 2022 Academic All-America® second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
 
Muir, a pitcher, carries a 3.72 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and is majoring in environmental science. He was selected first team Academic All-District® for the second time in his career in May and is the program's first Academic All-American since Mike Aiello in 2019.
 
Muir helped the Warhawks win the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship and the NCAA Whitewater Regional. UW-W reached the NCAA Super Regional round and finished the year with a 36-11 record.
 
Muir garnered first team All-WIAC, first team D3baseball.com All-Region 9 and fourth team D3baseball.com All-America accolades after another standout campaign in 2022. The program's all-time leader in career strikeouts, Muir finished the season with a 10-2 record, a 3.25 earned run average and 95 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched over 14 appearances (all starts). He held opponents to a .235 batting average.
 
Muir earned WIAC Baseball Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete honors and was a 2020-21 UW-Whitewater Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete. He is a three-year recipient of the UW-Whitewater Chancellor's Scholarship and a four-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
 
Muir recently signed a contract to play this summer with the Kane County Cougars of the American Association of Professional Baseball.
