The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team improved its score by nearly 20 strokes Wednesday in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
The Warhawks are 19th in the 29-team field with a 651 (335-316) after tying for the lowest score of any team currently below the cutline in Wednesday's second round.
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) led UW-Whitewater with a 76 to move up nearly 30 spots into a tie for 57th in the 151-player field with a 158 (82-76).
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) is tied for 89th with a 163 (83-80), while
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) also improved her second-round score to move up to a tie for 91st with a 164 (84-80).
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) carded an 80 in Wednesday's round and is at 166 (86-80) for the tournament, good for a tie for 98th.
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) is tied for 123rd with a 173 (89-84) through 36 holes.
The Warhawks will tee off Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
