The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team started play Tuesday at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship with a team score of 335 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
The Warhawks are 19th at the 29-team national tournament through the first 18 holes of competition.
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) led UW-Whitewater with an opening-round 82, including a birdie on the final hole of the day.
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) carded an 83 and is tied for 89th, while
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) posted an 84 and is tied for 99th in the 151-player field.
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) registered an opening-round 86 and is tied for 110th and
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) tallied an 89 and is tied for 126th.
The Warhawks resume action Wednesday at 8:10 a.m.
