Golf Tied for Third Through Round 1 at WashU

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team is tied for third out of 14 teams after Sunday's first round at the Washington-St. Louis Spring Invitational at The Quarry at Crystal Springs Golf Club in Maryland Heights, Mo.
 
The Warhawks carded a 306 to tie DePauw (Ind.) and Denison (Ohio) through 18 holes of the 36-hole tournament.
 
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) fired an opening-round 72, tied for her second-lowest score and the second-best 18-hole mark in program history, and is tied for fifth out of 82 players. Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) is tied for 18th after tallying a 76, while Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) is tied for 24th following her first-round 78.
 
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) turned in an opening-round 80 and is tied for 38th and Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) is tied for 54th after posting an 83.
 
Competing as an individual, Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) finished her first round with an 81 and is tied for 48th overall.
 
Competition concludes with Monday's final round.
