The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team tied for second overall at the 16-team, 18-hole UW-Whitewater Spring Invitational at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.
The Warhawks carded a 322 to tie Carthage and finish 18 shots behind tournament champion Washington-St. Louis.
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) led UW-W with a 78 to place eighth out of 89 players.
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) and
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) finished just outside of the top 10 as Lux fired an 80 to place 12th and LaPaz tallied an 81 to tie for 13th.
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) tied for 17th overall with an 83 and
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) tied for 23rd with an 84.
The Warhawks' "B" team placed seventh overall with a team total of 338.
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) led the squad with an 82 to tie for 15th.
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) was also among the top 25 in the field with an 84, good for a tie for 23rd.
Sydney O'Hearn (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) tied for 32nd with matching 86s.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) collected a 91 to tie for 50th overall.
Emma Norton (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) and
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) represented UW-Whitewater competing as individuals. Norton registered a 90 to tie for 43rd, while La Berge scored a 99 to tie for 69th.
The Warhawks will visit Carthage next Sunday, May 1, for a dual in the team's final tune-up prior to the NCAA Championship. The winner of the dual will take home the trophy the two teams tied for on Saturday.
