The No. 22 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team finished second out of 18 teams during the three-day Mid-Winter Classic hosted by Arkansas State University at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Playing in a tournament featuring 12 of the nation's top 25 ranked teams, the Warhawks finished second after reaching the best-of-seven Baker bracket play final, where they were edged by No. 3 Nebraska in seven games.
UW-Whitewater started the day with a 4-2 setback against Nebraska before coming back from 3-1 down to defeat No. 8 Stephen F. Austin in seven games.
The Warhawks finished with an 8-5 record for the weekend with a total pinfall of 14,447 (206.4 per game).
Following the conclusion of competition,
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) was named to the All-Tournament Team after finishing second in the individual standings from Saturday's traditional games.
UW-Whitewater returns to the lanes next Friday-Sunday, Feb. 25-27, at Nebraska's Big Red Invitational at Hollywood Bowl in Lincoln, Neb.
