The No. 22 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team continued its strong play at the Mid-Winter Classic, posting three more wins Saturday on the second day of the tournament in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Warhawks are second in the team standings following Saturday's traditional matches with a score of 10,522, good for an average of 210.4 per game, and a 7-3 record. UW-W topped Kentucky Wesleyan, No. 5 Louisiana Tech and No. 21 Lincoln Memorial and dropped matches against No. 8 Stephen F. Austin and No. 3 Nebraska.
All five Warhawks finished among the top 50 of the individual standings.
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) placed second in traditional scoring out of 130 players with a 1,160, good for a 232 average. She recorded a team-best 267 in her first game of the day.
Kelsey Jaeger (New London, Wis./Little Wolf) finished 24th with a 1,036, good for a 207.20 average, while
Kelly Whipple (Sheboygan, Wis./South) totaled a 998 in five games for 38th place and a 199.60 average.
Caitlin Mertins (Racine, Wis./Park) placed 48th with a 962 for an average of 192.40, and
Rebecca Howard (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) finished 50th with a 957 (191.40 avg.).
UW-Whitewater begins Sunday's best-of-seven Baker bracket play against top-seeded Nebraska.
