Bowlers Finish in Warhawk Classic

Rockford, Ill. -- The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team finished fifth in their first tournament of the season - the Warhawk Classic held in Rockford. 

The Warhawks opened bracket Sunday with a loss to Western Illinois. After taking the first Baker game 153-147, UWW dropped the next three. The Warhawks extended the match with a 176-157 win in game five but dropped game six 190-203. 

In match two, UW-Whitewater defeated Belmont Abbey College in six games -- 149-214, 194-135, 180-165, 153-212, 227-201, 190-156.

The Warhawks capped the tournament with a five-game win over Carroll to finish fifth. UW-Whitewater took the first two games, 165-156 and 206-140. The Pioneers captured game three 195-176 but UWW responded with a 196-161 in game four. The Warhawks won game five by just a single pin, 169-168, to secure fifth. 

Next Up: UWW heads to Des Plaines, Illinois for the Windy City Halloween Classic October 21 through November 2. 

Day Two Recap
Rockford, Ill. -- The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team holds sixth after the second day of competition in the Warhawk Classic. 

The Warhawks are 4-5 overall with a total pinfall of 8,554. UWW totaled 4,247 pins in five traditional team games Saturday. UWW opened Saturday with a 977-861 win over Carroll. The Warhawks dropped the next two with an 818-879 loss to Newman and a close 862-877 loss to Quincy. UW-Whitewater added 724 pins to their total in the fourth traditional team game of the day before wrapping up Saturday with an 866-832 win over Carroll. 

Individually, Jordyn Norvell (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) led UW-Whitewater with a total pinfall of 902 to finish tenth. Zoey Darwin (Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) registered a five-game total of 864 for 16th while Emily O'Byrn (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) rounded out the top 20 finishers with a total pinfall of 835. Ashley Bowe (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) was just two pins back from her teammate to cap the Warhawks competing in all five games on day two. UWW was also represented by Jacqueline Knowles and Savana Larsen (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) who bowled in three and two games respectively. 

As the sixth-seed heading into the final day of competition, the Warhawks will take on Western Illinois in their first match of bracket Sunday. 

Day One Recap
Rockford, Ill. -- The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team opened their 2025 campaign Friday in the team's annual Warhawk Classic. The Warhawks went 2-3 on the first day of competition in Rockford. The Warhawk Classic is set to conclude Sunday. 

UWW opened the day with their highest Baker total on the day - 952 - to take down Western Illinois (892). The Warhawks fell to Wright State 777-906, Marian (WI) 845-907 and McKendree 857-892 before bouncing back in the final Baker match of Friday. UW-Whitewater capped day one with an 876-774 win over Belmont Abbey College. 

The 10-team tournament will continue Saturday with five traditional team games.
