The Warhawk men and women's swimming teams fell to a tough Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe, UW-La Crosse on the road Saturday. The men, 153-137, and the women, 184-95.

The meet featured some close races with Warhawks driving hard all the way to the end.

UW-Whitewater's first win of the night came in the 1000 freestyle, with Hunter Heyberger finishing in 10:32.64. Heyberger finished 35 seconds in front of the next place finisher. Heyberger would also go on to win the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:59.72.

Dom Schlueter (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) was next Warhawk swimmer to touch first, finishing with a time of 1:48.04 in the 200 freestyle. Schlueter only finished 0.36 seconds in front of the second-place La Crosse swimmer. Later in the meet, Schleuter picked up his second win, with a time of 48.08 in the 100 freestyle.

The women saw a close race in the 100 backstroke.
Gabby Sponseller (Goshen, Ind./Concord) finished with a time of 1:12.75, only 0.46 seconds behind the first-place finisher. The women would go on to take their first win only a few races later, with a 24.89 finish in the 50 freestyle by
Zaria Terry (Madison, Wis./La Follette). Terry would also go on to win the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.15.

Daniel Keller (Omaha, Neb./Papillion-LaVista) touched first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:19.46.
Donny Gramer (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) was right behind him, finishing with a time of 2:22.84. Keller would also go on to win the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.55, almost 20 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Ethan Bergman (Racine, Wis./Bradford) and
Ethan Coons (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) picked up the first two spots in the 100 butterfly. Bergman finished with a time of 54.31 and Coons with a time of 55.17.

The Warhawks will head to Stevens Point next Saturday, November 19, 2022 for a dual meet against the Pointers.
