Warhawk Swim & Dive Finishes Strong at Wisconsin Showcase

UWW competed against Top Schools in Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swim & dive teams boasted competitive performances at the 2025 Wisconsin Showcase on Saturday, October 18th. The Warhawks matched up against other Wisconsin swim & dive teams like Division I UW-Milwaukee, Carthage, UW-Oshkosh, Milwaukee School of Engineering, and Lawrence. The DI Panthers dominated the meet, winning nearly every heat.

UW-Whitewater achieved strong performances at the Wisconsin Showcase, with notable finishes in both relay and individual events. The men's team secured second place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.61, while the women's team also placed 2nd in their medley relay, clocking in at 1:51.92. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the UWW women's team also captured second place, finishing with a time of 1:41.81. 

UW-Whitewater Player Highlights

Dom Schlueter (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) secured a 6th-place finish in the Men's 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:02.12. He also competed in the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle, finishing 9th with a time of 22.17.

Jenna Denton (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) delivered a strong performance in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke, placing 7th with a time of 1:01.71. She also claimed 8th place in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 25.28. Hailey Vogel (Rockwell City, Iowa/Fort Dodge) also joined Denton in the top 10 of the 50 free, timing in at 25.45 for 9th place. 

Vogel had an additional top-10 finish in the 100 freestyle with a 57.05 finish. Teammate Addi Sanow (Munster, Ind./Munster) placed just ahead in 8th place, timing in at 56.68.

Caleb Weis (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) finished 7th in the Men's 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:03.57. Madson also placed in the top 10 of the mid-distance race, with a 5:08.37. Weis also swam in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle, securing the 14th spot with a time of 1:50.88.

The Warhawks finished strong in the 200 IM, with two women in the top-10 finishers. Nikolina Gallo (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) timed in at 2:24.22 for a 7th place finish, with Hannah Wenszell (West Bend, Wis./Wisconsin Virtual) less than a second behind her for an 8th place finish at 2:24.65.

Daniel Keller (Omaha, Neb./Papillion-LaVista) achieved a 5th-place finish in the Men's 200 Yard Butterfly, recording a time of 2:09.71. He also competed in the Men's 400 Yard IM, placing 9th with a time of 4:35.05.

In the 200 Backstroke, the Warhawks had a top-10 finisher on both the men's & women's side. For the men, Ethan Schmohe (Sullivan, Ill./Sullivan) timed in at 2:06.72 for a 6th place finish; while on the women's, Amelia Davey (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) placed 10th with a time of 2:46.21. Davey also participated in the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke, where she placed 15th with a time of 1:17.98.

Noah Johnson (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) finished 5th overall in the 200 Breaststroke, with a 2:16.57 touch.

Olivia Santiago (Auburn, Cal./Placer) excelled in the diving events, securing fourth place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions with scores of 193.80 and 183.38, respectively. Impressively, Santiago's performances earned her a place in the UWW record book, ranking fifth for her achievements in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

- 200 Yard IM — Nikolina Gallo (Greendale, Wis./Greendale) placed 7th with a time of 2:24.22; Hannah Wenszell (West Bend, Wis./Wisconsin Virtual) was 8th, finishing in 2:24.65.
- 200 Yard Butterfly — Paige Malitz (Wausau, Wis./DC Everest) took 6th in 2:30.61; Lauryn Moneta (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) placed 9th with a time of 2:39.91.
- 500 Yard Freestyle — Weis finished 7th, clocking in at 5:03.57; Daniel Madson (Kiel, Wis./Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah) was 9th with a time of 5:08.37.
- 200 Yard Breaststroke — Noah Johnson (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) placed 5th, clocking a time of 2:16.57.

Diving
- 1 Meter Diving — Santiago placed 4th with a score of 193.80.
- 3 Meter Diving — Santiago finished 4th, scoring 183.38.
