2025 CSCAA Open Water Championship

Weis Competes in CSCAA Open Water Championship for Second Consecutive Year

Caleb Weis (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Men's Swim team competed in the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Open Water Championship. This year, the competition was held at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.

Nathan Benderson Park is a premier 600-acre community and sporting destination in Sarasota, Florida, centered around a 400-acre artificial lake created during interstate construction and later transformed into a world-class competition venue. The park has hosted high-profile events, including the 2017 World Rowing Championships, NCAA regattas, and numerous USA Swimming Open Water National Championships.

The race consisted of three 1.66K laps around the Park, equaling out to a 5K race. Weis swam the 5K race in 1:02:19.4, nearly 10 minutes faster than his time from the Open Water Championship last year held in Biscayne Bay.

This year in Sarasota, 185 swimmers competed on both the men's & women's side. On the men's side, Weis finished 75th overall and 8th overall out of NCAA Division III Swimmers.

Weis and the rest of the Warhawk swimmers return to competition in their annual triangular meet against Lawrence College & Lake Forest on January 24th at 1 PM.
