The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed Saturday in their final tune-up for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a dual meet at UW-Eau Claire.
The Warhawk men and women each finished second at the meet.
Jaclyn Fohlmeister (Lakemoor, Ill./Wauconda) led the women by winning the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 1:02.62. She also teamed with
Gabby Sponseller (Goshen, Ind./Concord),
Brianna Zimdars (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) and
Abby Thompson (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) to help UW-Whitewater place second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.71.
Hunter Hayberger (Sandusky, Ohio/Sandusky) led the men, finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:04.12 and third in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.00. Other runners-up included
Donny Gramer (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) in the 100-yard backstroke (58.99),
Tyler Popke (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) in the 100-yard butterfly (56.13) and
Ryan Corfield (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) in the 100-yard freestyle (54.93).
The WIAC Championships are set for Feb. 16-19 at Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wis.
