The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team placed all five of its players among the top 15 and finished second on the second and final day at Carthage's 16-team Battle on the Border at Bristol Oaks Golf Club in Bristol, Wis.
The Warhawks carded a two-day total of 649 (326-323) to place 15 strokes ahead of third-place St. Mary's (Ind.).
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) led UW-Whitewater, tallying a 159 (81-78) to finish sixth out of 94 players.
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) finished up her Warhawk debut in a tie for 10th place with a 162 (79-83).
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy),
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) and
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) all tied for 15th with matching totals of 165. All four improved their scores on Day 2 – Sinak recorded an 84-81 sequence for the weekend, while LaPaz and Johnson each registered 83-82.
The Warhawks' "B" team moved up two spots to fifth overall.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) and
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) tied for 18th with matching scores of 166. Myers' total resulted from rounds of 85 on Friday and 81 on Saturday, while Berardi posted an 83 each day.
Sydney O'Hearn (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) tied for 24th after seeing a seven-stroke improvement to collect a 169 (88-81).
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) placed 40th with a 178 (86-92), and
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) scored a 180 (93-87) to tie for 41st overall.
Competing as individuals,
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) tied for 59th with a 188 (94-94), and
Emma Norton (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) finished 62nd with her 189 (99-90).
UW-Whitewater heads to the Wartburg Fall Invite next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11-12, at Prairie Links Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa.
