The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team placed third out of 13 teams as it totaled a final round score of 323 Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.
The Warhawks carded a 661 (338-323) for the tournament, nine shots out of second place.
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) and
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) each cracked 80 on Saturday and led UW-Whitewater by finishing among the top 10 in the 80-player field. Sinak posted a 158 (84-74) to finish sixth, and Lux tied for seventh with her 160 (83-77).
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) tied for 21st with a 170 (83-87),
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) placed 29th with a 174 (88-86), and
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) tied for 34th with a 179 (93-86).
The Warhawks' "B" team placed fifth with a two-day total of 676 (337-339).
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) led the group with a 166 (83-83), good for a tie for 17th.
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) finished 20th with a 169 (80-89), while
Sydney O'Hearn (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) was one stroke behind with a 170 (86-84), good for a tie for 21st.
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) tied for 25th with a 172 (88-84), and
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) tied for 40th with a 181 (93-88).
Emma Norton (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) collected a 185 (97-88) to tie for 47th.
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel), also competing as an individual, fired a 193 (96-97) to tie for 58th.
UW-Whitewater competes next at the 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Friday, Oct. 8, at Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg.
