The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team carded a score of 338 Friday and is fifth after the first day of the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.
The Warhawks are one shot out of fourth place and 11 strokes off the leading pace.
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) and
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) led UW-Whitewater with opening-round 83s, good for a tie for 13th in the 80-player field.
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) is tied for 18th after posting an 84, and
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) is tied for 26th with her first-round score of 88.
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) registered a 93 and is tied for 46th.
The Warhawks' "B" team carded a first-round score of 337, good for fourth place through 18 holes.
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) led the group with a team-best 80, good for a tie for ninth.
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) is tied for 13th after collecting an 83.
Sydney O'Hearn (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) is tied for 23rd with an 86, and
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) is just behind in a tie for 26th with an 88.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) totaled a 93 and is tied for 46th overall.
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) and
Emma Norton (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) competed as individuals for UW-W. LaBerge is in a tie for 54th with a 96, and Norton registered a 97, good for a tie for 59th through 18 holes.
Saturday's second round begins at 8:30 a.m. in Janesville.
