Thursday Results – "B" Team
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team tied for fifth out of 20 teams on Friday and Saturday at the annual Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
The Warhawks carded a two-day total of 620 (305-315), finishing only three strokes out of third place. UW-W entered the day tied for second and one shot behind the leader.
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) tied the school record for 18-hole round with a 1-under 71 on Sunday, leaving her second overall out of 117 players with a 145 (74-71), the program's lowest-ever 36-hole score.
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) concluded her weekend in 18th place with a 154 (78-76), while
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) tied for 29th with a 158 (74-84), including her career low of 74 in Friday's first round.
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) and
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) rounded out the UW-W leaderboard. Johnson fired a 164 (80-84) to tie for 54th, and Myers posted a 172 (89-83) to tie for 85th.
Playing as an individual,
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) tied for 71st overall with a 169 (87-82).
On Thursday' UW-Whitewater's "B" team won the three-team Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational at New Berlin Hills Golf Course in New Berlin. Berardi led the group and topped the 21-player field with an 83.
Emma Norton (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) and
Sydney O'Hearn (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) tied for third with matching 87s, and
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) tied for fifth with an 88.
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) also placed among the top 10, carding a 93 to finish eighth overall.
The Warhawks host the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25, at Riverside Golf Course. Play begins at 1 p.m. Friday and continues at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
