The No. 23 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team stands 14th after the second day of the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.
The Warhawks own a total pinfall of 8,952 pins, good for a 179.0 average. UW-W posted a victory over No. 21 UAB in Saturday's traditional games. The team was defeated by No. 8 Sam Houston State, No. 6 Louisiana Tech, No. 16 Stephen F. Austin and Tusculum.
Mary Conneely (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) led UW-Whitewater in traditional games with 939 pins over five games, good for an average of 187.80 and 40th place out of 124 bowlers.
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) and
Rachel Nelson (Poplar Grove, Ill./Belvidere North) finished 57th and 60th, respectively, in traditional games. Knab totaled 868 in five games for a 173.60 average, while Nelson totaled 856 in five games for a 171.20 average.
Kelsey Jaeger (New London, Wis./Little Wolf) placed 85th with a 575 over three games for a team-best 191.67 average.
Caitlin Mertins (Racine, Wis./Park) finished 93rd with a 477 over three games for a 159 average.
Taylor Purgett (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) rolled two games at a 173 average for 346 pins, good for 100th.
Karlee Barton (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) averaged a 153 for a 306 two-game set, good for 107th.
The Warhawks will face Jackson State, the 13th seed, to start Sunday's best-of-seven Baker bracket play. Competition begins at 9 a.m.
