The No. 24 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team posted two sets over 1,000 pins and are in ninth place following the first day of the 19-team Columbia 300 Music City Classic at Symrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tenn.
The Warhawks finished with a 3-1 record in Baker sets, including victories over No. 17 Tulane and No. 25 Vanderbilt. UW-W led third-ranked Vanderbilt, the tournament's host, following the fourth game, but were edged by just over 30 pins.
UW-Whitewater's total pinfall for the day was 4,585, or 183.4 per game.
Action continues Saturday with traditional games starting at 9:40 a.m.
