The No. 24 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team placed fifth at the 10-team Flyer Classic, hosted by Lewis University, over the weekend at Strike and Spare II in Lockport, Ill.
 
The Warhawks fell in their opener against No. 18 Lewis, but recovered for victories over Quincy and Lewis in Baker best-of-seven bracket play for their fifth-place standing.
 
UW-Whitewater finished with a 9-4 record for the weekend, including four wins over nationally ranked opponents.
 
The Warhawks head to Arkansas State's Mid-Winter Classic Feb. 19-21 at Hijinx in Jonesboro, Ark.
