The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team is third after Friday's first round of the three-day, 54-hole Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship (Presented by Culver's) at Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wis.
The Warhawks are two shots behind the leader after carding a 323 as a team.
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna),
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy),
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) and
Elizabeth Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) all rank among the top 10 overall in the 69-player field through 18 holes.
Sheppard posted an 80 and is tied for sixth, while Sinak, Lux and Johnson all collected scores of 81 and are tied for 10th.
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) fired an 82 and is tied for 15th.
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) led UW-Whitewater's group of individuals, recording an 82 to sit in a tie for 15th through the opening round.
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) and
Emma Norton (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) are 31st and 32nd overall, respectively. Westerman tallied an 86, and Norton finished with an 87.
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) is tied for 35th after carding an 89, while
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) is tied for 40th after registering a 91.
Sydney O'Hearn (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) and
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) are tied for 44th with identical scores of 92.
Second round action begins Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in Reedsburg.
