After being elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for the Buffalo Bills' last three games, former University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football standout Jake Kumerow (2012-14) has been promoted to the team's active roster with five games to play in the regular season.

Kumerow, a wide receiver who has been primarily used on special teams, was signed to the Bills' practice squad on Sept. 9 after being released by the Green Bay Packers. He was activated to the 53-man roster prior to Buffalo's win over the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 8, and has been elevated from the practice squad for each game since.

Kumerow enters Monday's game at San Francisco with 20 receptions for 322 yards and two touchdowns for his career.

The 2014 D3football.com Offensive Player of the Year and a two-time All-American, Kumerow helped the Warhawks claim back-to-back national championships in 2013 and 2014 with a perfect 30-0 record during that span. He amassed 158 receptions for 2,648 yards and 36 touchdowns during his three years with the program.

He was signed as an undrafted free agent to the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad in 2015. After two years in Cincinnati, Kumerow spent time with the New England Patriots and the Packers in 2017. He appeared in 19 games over two seasons in Green Bay in 2018 and 2019.
