The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team broke program records for 18-hole and 36-hole team scoring Sunday during the second and final round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational at Prairie Links Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa.
The Warhawks fired a 303 during Sunday's final round to best the previous school mark of 304, which was established in 2017. The team's two-day total of 612 shattered the previous program record by eight strokes and was good for fifth place at the 17-team tournament, only four strokes out of second place and 10 off the winning score.
Senior
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) led UW-Whitewater and tied for 12th out of 107 players with a two-day total of 151 (74-77).
Senior
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) tied her school record shared with Sammie Leibham with a 73 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 154 (81-73), good for a tie for 22nd.
Sophomore
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) tied for 26th with her total of 155 (79-76), and senior
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) was close behind with her 156 (75-81), good for a tie for 30th. Senior
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) tallied a 77 Sunday to finish with a 162 (85-77) for the weekend and in a tie for 51st overall.
Freshman
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) competed as an individual and totaled a 176 (90-86), good for a tie for 91st.
The Warhawks head to the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15, at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill. The team will also send a group to the Marian Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Whispering Springs Golf Club in Fond du Lac.
