The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team is tied for eighth place after the first day of the two-day, 17-team Wartburg Fall Invite at Prairie Links Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa.
The Warhawks carded a team total of 309, only five strokes off second place and 12 behind leader St. Catherine (Minn.).

Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) paced UW-Whitewater with a 74, which tied for her career best, to head into Sunday's second round tied for eighth out of 107 players. Senior
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) continued her strong play with a 75, good for a tie for 14th overall.
Sophomore
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) also broke 80 with a 79, good for a tie for 38th. Senior
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) was close behind in a tie for 54th place after carding an 81.
Senior
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) fired an 85 and is tied for 75th, and freshman
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) is tied for 95th after posting a 90.
