The No. 16 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team finished third out of 18 teams on Friday and Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.
The Warhawks carded a 315 in Saturday's second round to finish with a two-day total of 620 (305-315), which was five shots behind runner-up Carthage and 11 short of first-place St. Mary's (Ind.).
Senior
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) led the team with a 153 (76-77), good for a tie for sixth out of 96 players. Sophomore
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) and senior
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) also tallied top 10 finishes. Sinak recorded a 154 (74-80) and Hofmeister fired a 157 (79-78).
Senior
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) placed 12th with a 158 (76-82), and senior
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) collected a 165 (85-80) to tie for 22nd overall.
UW-Whitewater's "B" team earned a top-five finish by placing fifth with a 661 (336-325).
Sophomore
Billie Jo Parker (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) led the group with a 164 (87-77), including her career-best round on Saturday. She was followed closely by freshman
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park), who carded a 165 (81-84) to tie for 22nd.
For the second straight day, sophomore
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) and freshman
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) registered identical scores. Both finished with a 166 (84-82) to tie for 24th. Freshman
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) tied for 36th with a 173 (89-84) to round out "B" team scoring.
Freshman
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) led Warhawk individuals with a 180 (87-93), good for a tie for 48th. Senior
Bella Barbiere (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) tied for 61st with a 189 (97-92), and freshman
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) tied for 79th with a 199 (100-99).
UW-Whitewater will send a group to the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invite next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29, at Stevens Point Country Club before heading to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Oct. 4-6 at Reedsburg Country Club.
