The No. 16 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team continued its strong play Friday on the first day of the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville.
The Warhawks carded a 305 and are five shots behind St. Mary's (Ind.) heading into Saturday's final round.
Sophomore
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy), seniors
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) and
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) each rank among the top five in the 96-player field. Sinak is tied for third after firing a first-round 74, and Knudsen and Storti are tied for fifth with matching scores of 76.
Senior
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) is tied for 14th with a 79, and senior
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) is tied 29th with an 85.
UW-Whitewater's "B" team ranks fifth out of 18 teams after totaling 336.
Freshman
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) leads the group with an 81, good for a tie for 20th. Sophomore
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) and freshman
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) each recorded an 84 and are tied for 24th. Sophomore
Billie Jo Parker (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) posted an 87 and is tied for 37th, and freshman
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) is tied for 46th with an 89.
Freshman
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) registered the top score for the Warhawks' group of individuals with an 87, good for a tie for 37th. Senior
Bella Barbiere (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) tallied a 97 and is tied for 69th, and freshman
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) is tied for 77th after recording a 100.
