Marian (JV) Results
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team claimed its second team championship through the first three tournaments of the 2019 season Sunday by taking the title at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
Sophomore
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) tied for first to lead the Warhawks, who totaled a school-record 607 (297-310) for the weekend, besting the previous record set last weekend at Wartburg by five strokes, to defeat runner-up Illinois Wesleyan by two shots.
Sinak tied a program record for 36-hole score with a 147 (72-75) for the weekend to place atop the 91-player field.
Seniors
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) and
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) each finished among the top 10. Hofmeister carded a 150 (76-74) to place fifth overall, and Knudsen tied for seventh with a 154 (75-79).
Senior
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) posted a 156 (74-82) to tie for 11th, and senior
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) tied for 23rd with her 163 (78-85). Sophomore
Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg), who competed as an individual for the tournament, fired a 170 (83-87) to tie for 48th.
UW-Whitewater also sent seven players to the Marian Invite, which wrapped up Sunday. The team's seven players all competed as individuals.
Freshman
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) took home medalist honors with a two-day total of 170 (89-81), claiming first place by two strokes. Freshman
Madi LaPaz (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) also placed among the top 10 with a 178 (88-90), good for eighth place.
Sophomore
Billie Jo Parker (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) finished just outside of the top 10 in 11th with a 181 (92-89). Freshman
Jennifer Berardi (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) posted a 190 (97-93) to finish 18th, and freshman
Grace Westerman (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) placed 28th with a 196 (101-95).
Senior
Bella Barbiere (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) registered a 200 (98-102), good for 34th, and freshman
Jessica LaBerge (Bonduel, Wis./Bonduel) recorded a 203 (104-99) to place 36th.
The Warhawks host the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville. Play Friday begins at 1 p.m.
