HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team made a strong push on the front nine Wednesday to maintain its 13th-place standing midway through the NCAA Division III Championship at Bay Oaks Country Club.
The Warhawks carded a 324 Wednesday to push their two-day total to 652 (328-324). Eight strokes separate five teams between 13th and 16th place.
Junior
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) and senior
Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton) paced UW-Whitewater with second-round scores of 78 and 79, respectively. Knudsen is tied for 45th with her two-day total of 159 (81-78), while McCue moved up 17 spots to a tie for 70th with a 166 (87-79).
Junior
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) fired an 82 and stands in a tie for 62nd with a 163 (81-82). Junior
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) is three spots behind in a tie for 65th with her two-day total of 164 (79-85).
Senior
Kaitlin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) improved three strokes from her opening-round score and is tied for 97th overall with a 175 (89-86).
The Warhawks continue with third-round action Thursday. UW-Whitewater will need to remain among the top 15 in the team standings to make the 54-hole cut.
