HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team opened the 2019 NCAA Championship Tuesday with a team score of 328, good for 13th out of 25 teams after the opening round at Bay Oaks Country Club.
The Warhawks are three shots ahead of Transylvania (Pa.) and five behind Grinnell (Iowa), and only nine shots outside of the top 10.
Junior
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) paced UW-Whitewater with a 79, good for a tie for 39th in the 131-player field. Juniors
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) and
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) are part of a tie for 57th after carding identical scores of 81.
Senior
Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton) fired an 87 and is tied for 87th overall, and senior
Kaitlin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) is tied for 96th after tallying a first-round 89.
The Warhawks start their second round Wednesday at 8:40 a.m.
