Five University of Wisconsin-Whitewater student-athletes have earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors for their respective sport performances during the week of April 22-28, 2019.
The Warhawks swept both the Pitcher and Position Player of the Week honors in baseball and softball, while adding a fifth honor in women's track.
Matt O'Sullivan (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) and
Nick Schrader (Cambridge, Wis./Jefferson) of the baseball team are both first time honorees, while
Vera Pflugradt (Lake Zurich, Ill./Stevenson) and
Bella Matthias (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) of softball have earned two and eight honors, respectively.
Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) of women's track, picks up her second outdoor honor and fifth overall.

Matt O'Sullivan (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland), Sophomore
O'Sullivan tossed the seventh no-hitter in program history and first since 2010 on Tuesday in the No. 18 Warhawks' 12-0 victory against UW-Platteville in Dubuque, Iowa. He recorded nine strikeouts during the performance and was perfect through 5 2/3 innings until allowing a two-out walk in the bottom of the sixth inning. O'Sullivan needed only 75 pitches to record the 21 outs in the run-rule shortened contest. |

Nick Schrader (Cambridge, Wis./Jefferson), Senior, Infielder
Schrader batted .579 (11-for-19) and owned an on-base percentage of .680 last week to help the No. 18 Warhawks to a 4-1 record. He totaled six walks, nine runs scored and nine runs batted in. Schrader started the week with three hits, one walk, one run scored and two RBI in UW-Whitewater's 15-2 triumph against UW-Platteville, and posted two hits, one run and three RBI in the team's 12-0 victory in the nightcap of the doubleheader. On Wednesday against St. Norbert, he finished 4-for-4 with a home run, four runs scored and two RBI in the Warhawks' 11-1 win. Schrader continued his performance at the plate Sunday at regionally ranked UW-La Crosse, tallying two hits, five walks, three runs scored and two RBI in a doubleheader split. |

Bella Matthias (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield), Junior
Matthias finished 3-0 with a 1.15 earned run average and 42 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings over five appearances last week to help the Warhawks post a 7-1 record and capture the program's third consecutive WIAC regular season championship. She tossed back-to-back, one-hit shutouts in UW-Whitewater's 4-0 victory at Carthage on Thursday and the team's 7-0 triumph against UW-La Crosse on Friday. Matthias capped the week Sunday with a four-hit shutout, tallying 13 strikeouts over seven frames in the Warhawks' 4-0 win at UW-Eau Claire that clinched the conference title and top seed in this week's WIAC Championship tournament. |

Vera Pflugradt (Lake Zurich, Ill./Stevenson), Sophomore, Outfielder
Pflugradt belted a walk-off home run in a key game on Sunday and finished 7-for-17 (.412) at the plate with two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored and five RBI last week to help the Warhawks post a 7-1 record and wrap up the program's third consecutive WIAC regular season championship. In the team's first game at UW-Eau Claire on Sunday, Pflugradt led off the bottom of the 13th inning with a home run to give UW-Whitewater a 3-2 win and complete a 3-for-5 performance where she reached base four times and added a stolen base. In Game 2 of that doubleheader, she tallied two hits, one run scored and two runs batted in during the Warhawks' 4-0 triumph. On Friday in the team's second game against UW-La Crosse, Pflugradt had a hand in all scoring during UW-Whitewater's 3-0 win, collecting one double, one home run, two runs scored and two RBI. |

Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), Junior
Felton won the 400-meter dash in a season-best 58.39 seconds on Friday at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet at Rex Foster Track. Her time currently ranks second in the WIAC. Felton also helped the team's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams finish first. Both relay performances were the team's best this season. |
