The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team placed first at the one-day, 13-team Augustana Viking Invitational at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.
 
In their final tune-up prior to the NCAA Championship, the Warhawks tallied a team score of 316, topping runner-up Augustana by seven strokes.
 
Senior Kaitlin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) led UW-Whitewater with a 77, good for fourth out of 72 players. Junior Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) totaled a 79 to tie for sixth overall, and junior CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) and freshman Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) tied for ninth with matching scores of 80.
 
Junior Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) carded an 81 to tie for 13th.
 
The Warhawks' "B" team finished fourth overall with a 332 and was led by senior Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton), who fired a team-best 76, tying her season-low, to tie for second overall.
 
Senior Sabrina Schreck (New Berlin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) tied for 20th with an 84, and freshman Billie Jo Parker (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) was one stroke back at 85, good for a tie for 25th. Freshman Lauren Winter (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) posted an 87 to tie for 31st, and sophomore Bella Barbiere (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) tied for 51st with a 96.
 
The NCAA Championship is scheduled for May 14-17 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. Check back as it gets closer to the date for more details.
