Day 1 Recap
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team enjoyed a strong second day Saturday on the final day of the Warhawk Fall Invitational at Wangerin Courts.
Competing against one Division I opponent and three NAIA foes, the Warhawks posted several strong performances as singles play was completed prior to the arrival of inclement weather in the Whitewater area.
Sophomore
Molly Rueth (Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) claimed the No. 4 singles draw, not surrendering more than three games in any single set. She bested Cardinal Stritch 6-1, 6-0 in the final.
Freshman
MacKenzie Lindow (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) topped two players from Roosevelt (Ill.) in the No. 5 singles draw after a walkover in the quarterfinals to earn the title in that flight.
Juniors
Paige Nierman (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Stevenson),
Sabrina Palavra (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and sophomore
Elsie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) won consolation finals at the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 draws, respectively. Each player recorded a 2-1 mark for the weekend.
UW-Whitewater resumes action next Saturday, Oct. 12, with matches against UW-Stout at 12 p.m. and Lake Forest (Ill.) at 3:30 p.m. at Wangerin Courts.
