No. 16 Golf Tied for Second After First Day at Golfweek Invite

The No. 16 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team is tied for second playing among 18 of the nation's top teams after the first round of the 54-hole Golfweek Division III Fall Invite, which began Sunday at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort (Baytowne Golf Club) in Miramar Beach, Fla.
 
The Warhawks carded a 314 as a team and are five shots behind No. 7 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) and tied with No. 22 Southwestern (Texas).
 
Senior CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) is tied for sixth out of 95 players after firing a first-round 76. Senior Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) is also among the top 10, posting a 77 to sit in a tie for 10th place.
 
Senior Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) is tied for 27th after tallying an 80, and sophomore Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) is tied for 37th following her opening-round 81. Senior Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) rounds out the group in a tie for 58th after a first-round 85.
 
The second round of the tournament begins Monday morning.
