The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's cross country teams continued their 2019 season Saturday at Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational at Reid Municipal Golf Course in Appleton, Wis.
The Warhawk men placed sixth with 134 points, while the women finished eighth with a score of 203.
On the men's side, senior
Seth Zimdars (Ripon, Wis./Ripon) led the way with a 27:29.1, good for 18th place out of 114 competitors. Freshman
Andrew Lohse (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) crossed the finish line in 21st with a 27:39.6, and sophomore
Nick Key (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) was just behind in 23rd with a result of 27:40.6.
Freshmen
Lucas Miller (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) and
Prue Thomas (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) finished in a pack, with Miller posting a 28:35.1, good for 56th, and Thomas collecting a 28:36.8, good for 57th.
Senior
Andrew Hirsch (Brookfield, Wis./Catholic Memorial) tallied a 28:41.8, good for 60th overall, and freshman
Kyle Legler (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) rounded out the team's top seven with a 29:41.0, good for 76th. Freshman
Matthew Peloso (Downers Grove, Ill./South) also competed for the Warhawks, recording a 29:49.5, good for 79th.
Senior
Gabrielle Martin (Kenosha, Wis./Bradford) led the women with a time of 27:06.5, good for 52nd in the 100-runner field. Junior
Jenny Kinjerski (Green Bay, Wis./Preble) and sophomore
Sarah Daley (Aurora, Ill./Kaneland) finished back-to-back with times of 27:13.8 and 27:20.0, good for 54th and 55th, respectively.
Sophomore
Amanda Leder (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) placed 78th in 28:22.2, and senior Claire Gorman finished 83rd with a result of 28:46.4. Freshman
Kristan Larson (Rio, Wis./Rio) and sophomore
Morgan Smarzinski (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) rounded out the UW-W group with times of 29:35.2 and 29:35.3, good for 86th and 87th, respectively.
UW-Whitewater heads to the Connecticut College Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 19, at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn. The men's 8K begins at 10 a.m. Central Time, with the women's 6K scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Central Time.
