The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's cross-country team competed in the Blugold Invite at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax on Friday morning. The meet, originally scheduled for the evening, was moved up to the morning due to the heat.
The Warhawk women's team competed in both the Varsity Race and the Open. AFte the Men's Varsity race, the Women's day started with their own Varsity race. The Warhawks finished 15
th out of the 36 teams competing, tallying 422 total points.
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) paced the way for UWW, crossing at 23:43.6 to finish 53
rd in the race.
Abi Anderson (Janesville, Wis./Craig) timed in at 24:01.8 to finish 74th. The next two Warhawks finished within 0.1 seconds of each other, with
Payton Scoggin (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trails) timing in at 24:25.2 and
Ella Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis./UW-Parkside) at 24:25.3 to finish 105
th and 106
th respectively.
The rest of the Warhawk varsity runners finished in the top-half of the 344 runners in the race. Nicole Brwon - 24:26.3 (110),
Kaitlyn Burke (Fort Atkinson, Wis./) - 24:29.2 (115),
Miranda McNally (Downers Grove, Ill./North) - 24:41.6 (132),
Carleen Snow (Rio, Wis./DeForest) - 24:58.2 (160), and
Brinley Everson (Waunakee, Wis./) - 25:05.3 (167) added to the women's Varsity race.
The Women's open was the last event of the day at Whitetail, and the Warhawks finished 3
rd overall, with 86 total points.
Emma Skelton (Mt. Prospect, Ill./) highlighted the Open race for UWW, setting a new personal best with a 25:16.0 to finish 14
th overall.
The Warhawk cross country team will take next week off, before heading down to Rock Island for the Augustana Interregional. The highly-competitive race takes place on October 18th.
