Five members of the 25th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team competed as individuals Sunday in the second and final round of the Mad Dawg Invitational at Stevens Point Country Club in Stevens Point, Wis.
In the Warhawks' final tournament before next week's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, senior
Sabrina Schreck (New Berlin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) led the way with a tie for second place finish out of 64 players. She carded a 158 (78-80) and finished only one stroke behind the tournament medalist.
Junior
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) placed ninth with a 164 (82-82), and senior
Kaitlin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) moved up two spots to a tie for 16th with a 172 (88-84).
Senior
Breanna Bertschinger (Waterford, Wis./Union) burned five strokes off her first-round score to finish with a 191 (98-93), good for a tie for 42nd place. Freshman
Billie Jo Parker (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) improved by eight strokes between her two rounds to tie for 46th with a 192 (100-92).
Next week's three-day, 54-hole conference tournament begins Friday at 12 p.m. at Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wis.
