The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team kicked off its 2018-19 season Friday in the first round of the 17-team Carthage Shootout on the Border, taking a two-stroke lead after the opening round at Bristol Oaks Golf Club in Bristol, Wis.
The Warhawks carded a 328 to lead Illinois Wesleyan by two heading into Saturday's second and final round. UW-Whitewater's "B" team is seventh after finishing Friday with a 356.

CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) is tied for third out of 95 players after shooting a first-round 78. Junior
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) is also among the top 10 in the field after firing an 81, good for a tie for sixth.
Senior
Sabrina Schreck (New Berlin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) is tied for 15th with her first-round 84, and freshman
Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) recorded an 85 in her first career round to enter Saturday tied for 18th. Junior
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) rounded out UW-Whitewater scoring with an 89, good for a tie for 29th.

Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) led the Warhawks' "B" team with an 83, good for a tie for 11th. Junior
Bella Barbiere (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) is tied for 29th after posting an 89.
Seniors
Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton) and
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) are tied for 44th and 52nd, respectively. McCue tallied a first-round 91, while Bowe collected a 93. Freshman
Billie Jo Parker (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) totaled a 104, good for a tie for 74th.
Saturday's final round begins at 9 a.m.
