The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team finished third at the two-day, 14-team Augustana Viking Invitational after carding a final round score of 317 Sunday at Highland Springs Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill.
The Warhawks posted a two-day total of 631 (314-317) to finish eight strokes behind William Penn (Iowa) and Illinois Wesleyan, which tied for first. UW-Whitewater's "B" team finished eighth overall with a 687 (334-353) for the weekend.
Sophomore
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) recorded the low round of the day for UW-Whitewater to finish the tournament with a 157 (81-76), good for a tie for eighth out of 72 players. Sophomore
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) was near the top 10 with a 158 (74-84), finishing in a tie for 11th.
Sophomore
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) finished inside the top 20 with a 161 (82-79), good for a tie for 17th. Juniors
Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton) and
Kaitlin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) tied for 20th and 24th, respectively. McCue fired a 163 (77-86), with Bowe improving by eight strokes in the second round to finish with a 164 (86-78).
Junior
Sabrina Schreck (New Berlin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) led the "B" team for the weekend with a 161 (82-79), good for a tie for 17th overall. Senior
Hayley Jefferson (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) placed 28th overall with a 166 (84-82).
Junior
Breanna Bertschinger (Waterford, Wis./Union) and sophomore
Bella Barbiere (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) each tied for 50th with matching scores of 180. Bertschinger carded an 84 in the first round and followed it with a 96 Sunday, and Barbiere posted an 86 Saturday followed by a 94 in the final round. Sophomore
Taylor Scot (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) rounded out the scoring effort with a 199 (100-99), good for 70th.
The Warhawks head to the four-day NCAA Championship May 8-11 at Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The full tournament field will be announced via press release Monday at 5 p.m. Central Time on

UW-Whitewater punched its first-ever team ticket to the NCAA Championship by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in October.
