The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team closed out Stetson University's Babs Steffens Invitational Monday with a weekend-best score to place 12th at the three-day tournament, which was held at DeBary Golf and Country Club in DeBary, Fla.
The Warhawks totaled 1,068 strokes, starting competition Saturday with a 378, continuing Sunday with a 351 and improving again Monday with a 339.
Sophomore
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) cut down five strokes from her second-round mark to finish with a 258 (87-88-83), good for a tie for 56th. Sophomore
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) also finished among the top 60 with a 264 (96-83-85), good for a tie for 59th.
Junior
Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton) registered a 270 (94-90-86) to place 61st, and sophomore
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) was 65th with a 276 (101-90-85). Junior
Kaitlin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) totaled her best score of the tournament Monday to finish with a 295 (101-014-90), good for 70th.
Competing as individuals, sophomore
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) and junior
Sabrina Schreck (New Berlin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) compiled scores of 280 (92-91-97) and 291 (96-97-98), respectively. Bowe finished 66th, and Schreck was 69th.
UW-Whitewater returns to competition April 7-8 at the Washington University Spring Invite in St. Louis, Mo.
