The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team trails UW-Stout by one stroke following Friday's opening round at the three-day, 54-hole Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Presented by Culver's at Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wis.
The Warhawks' total of 315 is good for second through 18 holes at the eight-team tournament.

Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) leads the 61-player field after her first-round 75, one stroke ahead of UW-Stout's Trystin Kluess.

Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton) posted a first-round 81 and is tied for 13th.

Ashton Sinak (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) each registered 80 to finish the day tied for seventh. Junior
