Gustie Fall Invite Results
 
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis seniors Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) and Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) claimed the doubles championship to highlight the team's weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Championships at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
 
McGuire and Wallace clinched All-America accolades and punched their ticket to next month's ITA Oracle Cup by defeating UW-La Crosse's Bridget Bellissimo and Sadie Spahn, the No. 3 seed in the draw, by a 0-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (10-5) score. McGuire and Wallace trailed 5-2 in the second set before winning four of the last five games to force a tiebreak.
 
The duo reached the final with an 8-6 triumph over the top-seeded team of Haley Resnick and Lauren French of Coe (Iowa) and finished the weekend with a 5-0 mark.
 
McGuire is now a four-time All-American in doubles playing with three different partners. Wallace earned her second All-America honor in doubles.
 
Wallace finished as the runner-up in the singles draw, downing Bellissimo, the No. 1 seed, and UW-Eau Claire's Natalie Wijesinghe, the No. 4 seed, en route to the title match, where she was bested by Gustavus Adolphus' Briana Hartmann, a No. 9 seed, in straight sets.
 
Senior Alexandra Talyansky (Mequon/Homestead) wrapped up an impressive weekend in the semifinals of the singles draw, downing two top 10 seeds. She finished with a 4-1 mark for the weekend.
 
McGuire reached the singles quarterfinals and tallied a 3-1 record for the weekend.
 
Several Warhawks competed in the Gustie Fall Invitational, which ran in conjunction with the regional tournament. Sophomore Madeline Slicker (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) finished as runner-up in the No. 7 singles draw, and freshmen Allie Miller (Sturtevant, Wis./Union Grove) and Jazmyne Schoeller (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) reached the championship match of the No. 3 doubles draw.
 
UW-Whitewater returns to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday with a dual at UW-Stevens Point at 3:30 p.m.
