Women's Tennis Collects Conference Win over UWSP

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team grabbed a conference win over UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday evening.

The Warhawks quickly grabbed the doubles point, winning the first & third doubles flight to open the match. At #3 doubles, Megan Griswold (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc) & Ashley Adkisson (Licolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) went out to a quick 6-0 victory. Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) & Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) quickly grabbed their own match with a 6-1 win.

The Pointers were able to grab the top singles flight to give them a team point, but the Warhawks quickly secured the match with wins at the second, fourth, & sixth flights.

Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) picked up the first Warhawk single match, only dropping three total games in her straight set victory. Abigail McIsaac (Fairview Heights, Ill./Belleville East) also grabbed the sixth flight in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-1.

Kaitlyn Remke (Johnsburg, Ill./Marian Central) helped secure the match, winning in straight sets as well, fending off a late push from UWSP to take her match 6-3, 7-5.

After the Warhawks secured the match, Molly Asfeld (Waukesha, Wis./West) and Ashley Adkisson (Licolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) won their respective flights in the third set. Asfeld played a full three sets, bouncing back from a close second set. Adkisson secured the reverse sweep in her match, winning in the third set tiebreaker after taking the second set 7-5.

The Warhawks will return to action in just over two weeks from now, playing in the Warhawk Fall Invite on October 3rd & 4th.
