The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater won its second tournament of the season Saturday, placing first at the two-day, 17-team UW-Whitewater Fall Classic at Blackhawk Country Club in Madison.
Sophomore
Ashley Hofmeister (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) was one of three Warhawks who earned All-Tournament Team honors, placing first with a 151 (77-74). Hofmeister's final-round 74 tied for the second-lowest score in one round in program history. Junior
Maddie McCue (Milton, Wis./Milton)Â finished third with a 161 (82-79), and sophomore
CheyAnn Knudsen (Milton, Wis./Milton) tied for fourth with a 165 (79-86).
Junior
Kaitlin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) improved by five strokes in her second round to tie for 11th with a 169 (87-82), and sophomore
Kelly Storti (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield)Â tied for 14th overall with a 170 (81-89).
UW-Whitewater finished the weekend with a 640 (319-321) as a team, 45 strokes in front of runner-up Wheaton (Ill.).
The Warhawks' "B" team placed seventh overall and were led by junior
Sabrina Schreck (New Berlin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels), who carded a 175 (88-87) to tie for 21st. Senior
Hayley Jefferson (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) was close behind with a 176 (85-91), good for 23rd place.
Other "B" team finishers included sophomore
Kristin Bowe (Franklin, Wis./Franklin), who tied for 26th with a 179 (89-90), junior
Breanna Bertschinger (Waterford, Wis./Union), who finished 46th with a 186 (94-92), and sophomore Bella Barbier, who tied for 47th with a 187 (95-92).
Sophomore
Taylor Scot (Franklin, Wis./Franklin) paced UW-Whitewater individuals with a 195 (98-97), good for a tie for 64th. Sophomore
Tianna DeCora (Wisconsin Dells, Wis./Wisconsin Dells)Â placed 74th with a 206 (104-102), and senior
Kate Russell (Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) finished 83rd with a 221 (113-108).
The Warhawks resume action next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at the UW-Stevens Point Mad Dawg Invitational at Stevens Point Country Club.
