Megan Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper) and junior
Bridgid McGuire (Slinger/Slinger) clinched All-America standing as a doubles team Thursday afternoon with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 triumph over fourth-seeded Juli Raventos and Linda Shin of Williams (Mass.) at the NCAA Division III Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn.
With the victory, Humphreys and McGuire advance to Friday's quarterfinals, where they'll face Sarah Ikoika and Elizabeth Johnson of Redlands (Calif.) at 2 p.m. Central Time.
After falling in the first set, Humphreys and McGuire leveled the match with a second-set win.
In the third, they took a 3-2 advantage up a break and claimed three of the last four games to clinch All-America honors for the second consecutive season and make their first trip to the doubles quarterfinals as a pair.
Humphreys and McGuire improved to 17-4 playing together this season.
