The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team faced conference opponent UW-La Crosse in the 5th place match of the Midwest Invite. The Warhawks grabbed one doubles match & two singles flights against the 28th-ranked Eagles, falling 2-5 to the WIAC rival. 

The Eagles picked up the doubles point, winning the two needed flights for the team point. Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) & Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) fended off the doubles sweep, defeating Tasha Bailey & Shelby Roth at the top doubles flight 7-5. 

The Warhawks fell in the first two singles flights, with UW-La Crosse taking a 3-0 team lead. Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) picked up her match at the second singles flight, winning in straight sets (6-1, 6-2). Molly Asfeld (Waukesha, Wis./West) finished her match closely after, bouncing back after losing her second set. Asfeld made the match 2-3 with a third-set tiebreaker win. 

UW-La Crosse grabbed the final three singles flights to take the match 2-5. 

The Warhawks will return to action on Sunday, April 12th, against Carthage. The match is set to begin at 12 PM in Kenosha.

Friday Recap

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team competed in the annual Midwest Invitational against some of the top tennis teams in the Midwest. The Warhawks split their two games of the day, and will play against either UW-La Crosse or North Central College tomorrow morning in the 5th place match. 

The Warhawks started the day against 36th-ranked Hope College. The Flying Dutch took the doubles point, and followed up with defeating UWW 5-1 in the singles flights. Crystina Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) picked up the lone match at the 4th singles flight. Lee won the first set 6-3, but her opponent forced a tiebrekaer with a 5-7 second set. Lee held strong and won the match 10-5 in the third set tiebreak.

In the consolation game, the Warhawks defeated 55th-ranked Luther College to advance to the 5th place match. The Warhawks picked up the doubles point from wins at the top two flights. Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) and Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) took their flight 6-2, with Molly Asfeld (Waukesha, Wis./West) and Crystina Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) winning 6-3. 

The Warhawks went 4-2 over the singles flights to clinch the match 5-2. Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, Ind./Mishawaka Marian), Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd), Crystina Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian), and Kaitlyn Remke (Johnsburg, Ill./Marian Central) were the four taking their singles matches.
 
The Warhawks will either play UW-La Crosse or North Central in the fifth place match, set to take place at 8 am on Saturday, April 4th.
