Post-Event Quotes - Head Coach Joel Rollings:
General thoughts on the team's performance:
"We swam really well. Our team has been training hard. It's a young team, so they're learning how to perform when tired. They did a real nice job. We challenged them a little bit and put them in a lot of different events. I'm really happy with our leadership and with the contributions of our freshmen.
"The team is coming together well. The upperclassmen and freshmen coming together and are jelling well. It doesn't seem like freshmen have only been here for three months, and it's reflecting in training. They're making pretty good strides forward."
On individual performances that stood out:
"Zach Noll won the 1000 freestyle. He paced it well. That's a tough event, especially for a freshman, and he did a great job.
"Peter Loftus (Janesville, Wis./Craig) won two events. He's a real competitive guy and he pushed hard.
"Erin Hawker (Chanhassen, Minn./Hutchinson), who is coming off an injury, won the 1000 freestyle, which is a tough event. She did a nice job in the 100 breaststroke as well, especially since they have a good swimmer in that event at Carroll. She swam a really good race.
"Alexis Olson (Marengo, Ill./Marengo) won the 200 freestyle and had some really nice swims. She was a big performer on our relays."
Senior Michaela Matthys (Crystal Lake, Ill./McHenry West)
"We are a young team this year which gives us the opportunity to grow this season and as a program as a whole. Our meet this past Friday was a step in the right direction."
Senior Kevin Lotzer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove)
"We are learning to perform and step up to race when our bodies are tired and sore so we will have confidence at our big mid-season and conference meet when we are well rested and tapered."
